A Day Out of Frequency: Finding Magic in the Pause

Today all my social shares were singing the same tune — a fuzzy TV screen image with a simple message: Out of frequency. Normal programming resumes tomorrow.

And it was true.

I had nothing to say online… because I was too busy living in full frequency offline.

On Saturday I ended up spending the whole day at Coed Hills Rural Art Space for Codefest, a celebration that felt like a living altar to summer solstice energy — being immersed in the joy of other humans, laughter, creativity, sunshine, land, and the wild pulse of life.

It was unplanned magic. And it was exactly what was needed.

That energy of the solstice completion followed me home. After staying at my beautiful friend’s house with her and her daughter, I came back to my space Sunday and felt it stirring in me — this desire to finish the little things.

I noticed the mark on the wall — the patch I had filled months ago after painting the Art Room. It had just been sitting there unfinished, waiting for a tiny bit of effort and attention - For over 3 months!!

So I got out the paint. And in doing so, I didn’t just finish the wall — I finished a loop that had been hanging open for months.

It was like the creative muse whispered, "While you’re here…"

And so I finished upcycling a lampshade I found in a charity shop for £3 to go in my bedroom, something I’d been meaning to do for 13 months.

Today the solstice energy called me to complete, to bring beauty in, to honour the home, the space, the creation.

Later, Isla came home from her weekend with her dad, and brought a movie suggestion for a film she’d seen — a story about a teenage girl living the same day over and over, each time learning more, doing better, opening her heart wider. I told Isla afterwards, “That girl’s learning at her age what it’s taken me 30+ years to understand.”
We ended the day together making chocolate cupcakes (we had no cocoa powder, so we used hot chocolate instead, 10/10 recommend), making puzzles, making memories. It wasn’t a grand ritual or sacred ceremony… but it was.

It was a day of creative flow, of family, of softness, of integration.
A day that needed no fanfare.
A day that reminded me…

Life is the ritual. You are the living altar. And sometimes the most sacred thing you can do is rest, reflect, complete, and simply be.

Turns out the new lampshade looks amazing in the lounge so the one usually there went to my bedroom! Love when magic works that way. Trusting the inspiration always.
