Fire Moth - 6x9" Print of Original Watercolour, on Mohawk Fine Art Paper
This image is a mixed media print that I created with a friend in mind. I actually used charcoal from an arrow breaking and fire walking ceremony that my friend gifted me from the ashes. To create with this totally natural tool was a really deep spiritual practice. That day as I felt called to paint and use the charcoal I spotted the most beautiful Moth in my house. haven’t ever seen one like it before. It was a Cydalima Perspectalis or Box Tree Moth
”Moths can represent change, transformation, and growth. Many cultures see moths as symbols of death and believe they bring messages from the afterlife. Others believe that moths symbolise your intuition and encourage you to trust your inner wisdom.”
I knew when I had created the moth along with all its symbolism that there was more to come and I needed to get my trusty watercolours out! Then the fire was added and the moon and night sky. It was a beautiful collaboration between earth, water and myself to bring this image of fire, transformation and connection to life.
